One of the worlds most diverse and beautiful wildlife preservation centres is right on our doorstep.
Taronga's website mission statement reads as follows:
Taronga is a not-for-profit organisation supporting wildlife conservation. Taronga cares for 4,000 animals from over 350 species, many of which are threatened. Taronga believes that through education we can inspire and create behaviour change to support species conservation and habitat preservation. Our cause is the wild. We believe that we all, humankind and animals, have a future together. We believe in a world that we can share, a world where all our wild species can make a comeback. And we believe that for this future to become a reality, one species must lead us there....ours.
This is why we love Taronga and why we believe that we are privileged to have a place like this in our city.
You’ll make plenty of incredible discoveries when you visit Taronga Zoo, exploring animals from all over Australia and the world in one day. Take a ride on the Sky Safari Cable Car or hear about your favourite animal in one of Taronga's free daily talks and shows.
The kids will have a fab time at Lemur Forest Adventure where they can can climb, play and jump in the state of the art playground right next to the zoo's lovable troops of Lemurs.
All this and more is included in one entry price.
For the more adventurous, test your skills on the Wild Ropes high ropes adventure. An amazing experience, read our review HERE. Additional cost involved.
One of the best investments we have made since becoming parents is an annual family pass for Taronga Zoo. It has provided us with so many hours of enjoyment and we make a point of going about once a month, which makes it great value (you only need to visit 3 times per year to make it worthwhile). We go for a couple of hours at a time and visit a different set of animals, play in the playground and go for a ride on the Sky Safari cable car. We often take a picnic to make it even more economical. It even makes a good rainy day activity if you pack your raincoats and gumboots as the walking paths are wide and easy to navigate and there is quite a lot of undercover around the animal enclosures.
Getting to Taronga Zoo is easy with plenty of parking and public tranport options. Check out the detailed options here >>>Getting There
